Manuscript copy of "Ponthus et Sidoine," a transcription of the French original manuscript made in part by and in part for F.J. Mather, Jr., at the time of his publication (1897) of the Middle English version of "King Ponthus and the fair Sidone, " and consisting of a copy of the British Museum Ms (142 p.), two copies of the opening paragraphs of MSS Cambridge Ff.3.31 & Cambridge Hh.3.16 respectively, two pages of notes, and a "rough collation" of MS Royal 15 and the early printed edition of Ortuin.

Frank Jewett Mather was born on July 6,1868, in Deep River Connecticut. Mather attended Williams College for his undergraduate studies and then obtained a Ph.D. in English, Philology, and Literature from Johns Hopkins University. In college he developed a deep appreciation for art, and began to pursue his own creative career. From 1893 to 1900, Mather took a break from his painting to teach at Williams College.
